Washing and Cleaning Suspenders
How to Clean Elastic Suspenders:
Learning how to clean suspenders is important to ensuring that your suspenders stay in great shape for years, but you need to take proper care so as to avoid damaging the material. Our elastic suspenders are washable. But try to do it as little as possible. And the keyword is "gentle."
We recommend washing them either by hand or by placing them in a mesh laundry wash bag and running them through your washing machine on a delicate cycle. Be sure to wash colors separately because colors may run. Use cool water and mild detergent. No bleach!
After washing your suspenders, hang them to dry, don't use a drier.
To clean spots or stains on the elastic suspenders we have had good luck with the Tide pens.
How to Clean Non-Elastic Suspenders:
As you know, washing leather and other materials can be tricky. But as long as you take proper care, you can keep your leather suspenders in grade-A shape for the long-term. We do not recommend washing our non-elastic suspenders - leather, oxford cloth, grosgrain and silk. In the event that one of these items gets soiled, consult a cleaning professional. A good dry-cleaning service will be able to help you clean leather and other delicate materials.
Suspenders with leather crosspatches or leather tabs can be machine-washed as long as they are not dried with heat, which can dry out the leather. You may want to treat the leather afterwards with a leather conditioner to help maintain the suppleness of the leather. Just like anytime you'd wash leather, you want to make sure you're not over-saturating the material with too much moisture.
Also note that repeated washing may shorten the expected life of the suspender, so we recommend washing only occasionally or when soiled.
