FAQs

1. What size suspenders should I buy?

Please see our Suspender Sizing Guide for a detailed explanation of how to measure to determine the right length suspender to purchase. We always recommend actually measuring the person who will be wearing the suspenders over using the height/weight size estimates. However in a pinch these guides usually result in the purchase of the right size suspender. Just remember that you can always shorten a suspender, but you can't lengthen it from the stated length. If all else fails, you can always exchange the suspenders for a different size - please see our Returns and Exchanges page for information on our customer friendly policies.

2. How long will it take to receive my suspenders?

We pride ourselves on fast, efficient service. All suspender orders are shipped out same or next business day. If for some reason we can't meet this timeframe, we contact you via email or phone to explain the delay and ask you how you would like us to proceed. We ship via the US Postal Service - please refer to our Shipping page for delivery time estimates once your package leaves our hands.

4. Can I pay for my suspenders by check or money order?

Paying by credit card via our website or over the phone is the easiest, most efficient way to purchase your suspenders. However,if you prefer to pay by check or money order we can certainly accommodate you! Simply pick out the suspenders you want and write us a note detailing the style, size, color, quantity and cost of each suspender you'd like. Include a check for the total plus shipping and handling (see our Shipping: Domestic & International page for pricing). We'll send your suspenders as soon as we receive your order!

5. Can I return suspenders?

Please see our Returns/Exchanges page for a detailed explanation. We have an easy return and exchange policy as long as the suspenders are returned to us within a reasonable timeframe and in good condition.

6. Which width suspenders should I choose?

There are no right or wrong answers here - it is simply a matter of taste and style. In general 2" wide suspenders portray a slightly more casual look and offer greater support. 1.5" wide suspenders are slightly dressier with a thinner (but still strong - we pay extra for high quality clips) clip. Our thinner width suspenders (1" wide and 3/4" wide) are often the suspenders of choice for our younger or more fashion conscious customers - they go just as great with business suits as they do with jeans! For a detailed explanation of different widths of suspenders, view our Suspender Width Style Guide.

7. Do you ever offer discounts on suspenders?

Yes - be sure to check out the announcement bar on our home page for special promotional offers on suspenders. Also, join our email list to receive repeat customer coupons and new product announcements.

8. Do you sell or rent your Suspender Store customer lists?

Absolutely not! We collect your email information and phone number so that we can contact you if we have any questions regarding your order. Unless you request to join our email list to receive coupons and new product announcements, the only correspondence you will receive from us will be to give you status updates on your current order. Under no circumstances will we share your information with anyone outside our organization.

9. Is my credit card information safe with you?

Absolutely! We do not share your credit card information with anyone outside our company for any reason. The information stays active in our system for 30 days after your purchase because this simplifies matters when an exchange or return is necessary. After that time, the data is automatically erased from our system.

10. What is the difference between braces and suspenders?

Button suspenders are sometimes also called braces. The reason for the different names is that the original British inventor, Albert Thurston, called them braces, which is how they were commonly known in England. These days both button-end and clip styles are generally called suspenders - at least in America.

11. Are suspenders one size fits all?

No. While they can be adjusted to different lengths, suspenders sizes are based on body height, weight and other factors. We recommended that you refer to a size guide before purchasing suspenders.

12. How tight should suspenders be?

Suspenders should never feel too tight or too loose. They should always fit comfortably, allowing you to move freely without restriction. You can use the adjusters to determine the level of tightness that is most comfortable for you.

13. Why do men wear suspenders instead of belts?

Some men prefer the adjustable comfort of suspenders. In addition, some suspenders are made of stretch fabrics. Generally, belts do not offer as much flexibility, and they may feel stiff or tight around the waist.

14. Are there health benefits to wearing suspenders?

Suspenders can help encourage good posture, which is good for your whole body.

15. What are the rules to wearing suspenders?

Make sure your suspenders fit well by selecting the right size. Choose the suspender type based on its purpose (function versus fashion). Rock your personal suspender style with pride. Remember these three rules and you're good to go. Suspenders are an accessory that can be worn in many different ways, and you're free to get creative!

16. How can I wash or clean my suspenders?

We're glad to hear you are wearing your suspenders so often that they need to be cleaned! With proper care, your suspenders can stay in great shape for many years. Please visit the following page for detailed instructions:  Washing and Cleaning Suspenders.
